Have You Thanked a Farmer Today?

Oct 12, 2020
1 min read

October 12 is National Farmer's Day. Today, and everyday, we are blessed with an abundance of food in our nation that our farmers produce for us. Today we celebrate farmers by expressing our gratitude and acknowledging their importance in all of our lives. Did you know that one U.S. farm feeds 166 people annually (Farm Bureau). According to Business Insider, farmers and ranchers only make up 1.3% of our work force. These people hold one of the most vital roles as they feed the 328.24 million people in the U.S. and others around the globe. One way you can support your local farmers is by shopping at a nearby farmer's market. Additionally, make sure you are keeping an eye out for farmers while you are driving throughout harvest season so that they can complete their job safely.

“Agriculture is the greatest and fundamentally the most important of our industries. The cities are but the branches of the tree of national life, the roots of which go deeply into the land. We all flourish or decline with the farmer.” – Bernard Baruch
